The Great Beauty

Jep Gambardella (Toni Servillo) is an attractive man and an irresistible seducer. A successful journalist who once wrote a novel that earned him a literary prize and a reputation as a frustrated writer. He is still part of the modern life in the city of Rome. He is at every party every night, his sharp mind is applauded and his company is sought after. However, he thinks back with bitterness to his passionate childhood love and, after his 65th birthday, he decides to take up writing again and search for the true meaning and beauty of life. LA GRANDE BELLEZZA is a cinematographic ode to Fellini's LA DOLCE VITA and the city of Rome. Paolo Sorrentino's film is enchanting, frank and ironic at the same time. The film was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.
