L'Épopée de la Grande Région

Knowledge/Country & People, Germany/Luxembourg 2011

The history of France. Germany. Luxembourg. Belgium. What is common about it? The dividing factor - the war? Or is there another? A common one? Perhaps in a country beyond the borders that today calls itself the Grande Région? All countries, with the exception of Luxembourg, which today want to be called the Grande Région together, had in fact always been only the provincial fringe of European nation states. So what is the historical reason for discovering a common region in these countries? The film "Chuchotements de la Grande Région" attempts to answer this question poetically. In doing so, it discovers in the year 600 AD the long-forgotten beginning of a history that has perhaps shaped the people of Europe to this day more than the visible signs of "prevailing history" would suggest. This is the history of the Grande Région, which will perhaps also be the future of Europe.
